Actor and dancer Hungani Ndlovu recently shared how he almost drowned on Tropika Island of Treasure.

Hungani Recounts His Near Drowning Experience on Tropika Island of Treasure
Speaking to The Citizen, Ndlovu revealed that he nearly drowned while competing in the 11th season of the reality show.
Hungani Ndlovu recounted his near-drowning incident, calling it one of the most intense moments of the competition.
“I almost drowned in one of the challenges, and that was hectic,” he said, emphasizing just how physically and mentally demanding the competition can be.
Reality TV: A New Territory for Ndlovu
Known for his performances in popular TV dramas like Scandal! and Skeem Saam, Ndlovu admitted that participating in a reality competition was vastly different from his usual acting roles. Reflecting on his experience, Ndlovu said,
“Being myself was a unique experience, but the team created a great environment where we could be ourselves while still making great TV.”
Despite the unexpected difficulties, Ndlovu found his time on Tropika Island of Treasure refreshing.
“The experience was better than I expected. I thought I’d be annoyed by the process, but it turned out to be uplifting and a confidence boost for me,” he added.
Facing the Unexpected
One of the biggest surprises for Ndlovu was the unpredictability of the challenges on the show. He noted that while contestants can train for what they anticipate, the actual tasks presented by the show are often completely different.
“Most of the tasks were completely different from what I had prepared for. Every challenge was a surprise, and figuring them out as we went along was tough,” he explained.
