Sni Mhlongo Arrested for Speeding: Social Media Influencer Faces Reckless Driving Charges
Television personality and social media influencer Snikiwe Mhlongo was arrested last week for reckless driving and speeding in Fourways, Johannesburg.
The daughter of renowned actress Brenda Mhlongo, Sinikiwe gained popularity through her content creation on various platforms. However, her recent brush with the law has raised concerns about her conduct on the road.
Arrest and Bail
According to City Press, Sni Mhlongo was taken into custody by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) for driving at excessive speeds in a 60km/h zone. The influencer was reportedly traveling at 180 km/h near the upscale Fourways Gardens estate.
Following her arrest, Mhlongo was granted bail of R1,000 and was released from Sandton Police Station. She appeared in court at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 11 November 2024. Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the arrest and court appearance but referred further inquiries to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for updates on the case.
Speeding and Resistance to Arrest
According to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, Mhlongo’s high speed was captured by a speeding camera during a routine operation. During the arrest, it was reported that Mhlongo attempted to resist, citing her celebrity status. In addition to the speeding charge, police conducted an alcohol test, although results have not been confirmed.
A police officer involved in the incident shared that Mhlongo’s arrest was part of a broader crackdown on reckless driving, which resulted in over 50 additional arrests for similar offenses, including driving under the influence of alcohol.

180 in 60 zone? She should be sent to prison. The danger that she posed to other road users? Kids?
@TsipaA;
She should remain in jail for a few weeks before bail.
@ESNK;
This is nonsense, what did she hit?
