Kabelo Gwamanda was reportedly arrested for his involvement in a funeral policy scam that targeted residents of Soweto over a decade ago.

According to News24, investors were deceived into believing that both directors of the funeral policy company had passed away, only to discover later that one of them, Gwamanda, had become a prominent public figure, even serving as the Mayor of Johannesburg.

The scam, which had largely faded from public attention, resurfaced with Gwamanda’s arrest, bringing renewed focus to the alleged fraud.
