South African Truck Driver Threatens To Kill Zimborders Agent with Okapi Knife At Beitbridge Border Post
A South African truck driver was fined US$160 and deported after threatening to kill a Zimborders agent during a parking dispute at Beitbridge Border Post.
Gcwalisiwe Nkomo, 45, works for Eagle Truck Logistics.
He appeared before Beitbridge Magistrate Gillian Padzakashambwa on Wednesday.
Nkomo faced a charge of threatening to kill following the incident at the South Bound Terminal.
Driver Pulls Out Okapi Knife
The incident happened around 3am on Sunday after Nkomo was allegedly asked to reposition his truck.
The instruction came from Paul Muzumbani, a Zimborders customer service agent.
Muzumbani reportedly told Nkomo to park properly because his truck was blocking other vehicles from passing.
The court heard that Nkomo objected to the instruction.
He allegedly argued that a ZIMRA official had told him to park at the spot.
The disagreement escalated before Nkomo allegedly returned to his truck and retrieved an okapi knife.
He allegedly opened the knife and pointed it at Muzumbani while threatening to kill him.

Security Officers Make Arrest
Muzumbani reported the alleged threat to security officers who were conducting patrols at the border post.
The officers reportedly searched Nkomo and recovered an okapi knife.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to court.
Reason Mutimba prosecuted the case.
Following his appearance, Nkomo was fined US$160 and ordered to leave Zimbabwe.
The incident highlights the tensions that can arise at busy border facilities, where truck movements and parking arrangements can affect the flow of traffic.
