ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula’s Tribute Message to Solly Moholo Sparks Outrage

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has courted ire on social media over his tribute message to the late gospel musician Solly Moholo.

Solly Moholo’s Death

Solly Moholo, a renowned gospel musician passed away on the 2nd of October, 2024. He was 65.

He died in the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

His death comes after he suffered a stroke in late August.

Fikile Mbalula Pens Tribute to Solly Moholo

Taking to X, Fikile Mbalula paid tribute to Solly Moholo by sharing a heartfelt tribute to the late iconic singer.

The ANC is deeply saddened by the passing of legendary gospel singer, Solly Moholo, a true icon in the South African music industry. His powerful voice, passion for spreading the word of God, and dedication to uplifting the spirits of many through his music will forever be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy live on in the music and joy he brought to the world,” he wrote.

Social Media Users Express Anger

Fikile Mbalula’s tribute message was not well reeived, instead it sparked outrage on social media.  Netizens slammed him and the ANC government for failing to assist him when he was hospitalized and his family was appealing for donations. Social media users argued that the ANC government failed him.
