Serai Tshepo Seate, also known as Stoan Seate, is a multi-talented South African artist. He has made a name for himself as a Kwaito singer, music producer, actor, and television presenter. Stoan Seate is particularly recognized for his significant contributions to the renowned Kwaito band Bongo Maffin since 1996.

From Tshepo Seate to Stoan
Stoan’s name originated from his rap career during which he used to go by the “Stoan Kold-T” moniker.
Family
Before their initial split in the early 2000s, Stoan and his Bongo Maffin bandmate Thandiswa Mazwai had a daughter named Malaika Mazwai together. He has two other daughters, Ayana and Zahara. Stoan Seate’s wife is Dolly.

Stoan SeateBongo Maffin & Solo Career
Initially, he arrived in Johannesburg to pursue Advertising studies, but his passion for music soon took over, and his remarkable skills were quickly discovered. Instead of embarking on a solo career, Stoan teamed up with Oscar Mdlongwa to create a group. This decision was partly influenced by the fact that, at that time, Boom Shaka was the only other Kwaito group in the industry. Jahseed and Speedy joined them, and together they formed Bongo Maffin in 1996, releasing their first album. Shortly after, Thandiswa Mazwai also joined the all-male band.
Acting & TV Appearances
He received an invitation to audition for the role of Pule, a teacher in the SABC1 youth drama series Soul Buddyz. His previous television appearances include a brief appearance on Molofish and hosting Castle Loud from 2001 to 2003, as well as Lillizela, a music game show, in 2004. On September 16th, 2008, he took over as the SABC2 music show Afro Café host, succeeding Pepsi Pokane. From December 2009 to January 2010, he served as the narrator for the SABC1 documentary series Vuma – A Music Revolution, which focused on kwaito music. In 2013, he made an appearance as a guest presenter at the 6th annual Crown Gospel Music Awards.
