A minibus taxi boss was gunned down in the Johannesburg CBD on Monday morning, police said.

He was sitting in his car at the corner of Bok and Claim streets when an unidentified man approached and shot him around 10:00, Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said.

About 13 shots were fired at him. He died at the scene.

His sister, who was with him, was unhurt, but was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
