The River: Will Thuso Win The Custody Battle?
The writers at the River have developed a knack for dragging out storylines. Which is a thing one would not mind if the stories were kept riveting, interesting, and hot? Does that suffice? There is a need for drama where The River is concerned and in the past two weeks, with week one, having the storyline of Mohumi being played out for an entire week, gosh, that was hellish. It felt like we were all locked in that house and Phathu had the keys and only he could let us out, which he did after an entire week, but there was nothing to write home about the entire experience, we were all just happy that it ended and none of the dram and all the shenanigans that went down were worth it. Underwhelmed is the word, really, and quite frankly, this kind of behavior needs to be stopped!
Enter week 2 of Angelina Mothombeni (as Kabzerla would say) vs Thuso Mokoena custody woes and battles. Dear soapie God what have we done to deserve the short cuts taken by the production team? Firstly, how does Thuso’s lawyer just die like that? With little to no explanation to us as the viewers and poor Thuso? How do you find out on the day your trial starts that the person who is supposed to represent you, died over the weekend? Is everyone unprofessional? No one is impressed, please.
Thuso has been doing a very lousy job of representing himself, running out of witnesses to vouch for him, doing poorly at cross-questioning, performing dismally at answering questions from the other lawyer. It has been one long sketch that seems to have no end in sight. Frankly, they must let us all out of our misery and deliver the verdict because we have been put through nonsense these past few weeks and all for nothing. At this point, it matters not, if either of them gets custody, one just needs to be delivered from this misery of this storyline.
