Thulani Way, who proudly identifies as a Culture Evangelist and serves as the founder of the Amapiano Summit, is embroiled in a controversy after a music promoter came forward alleging that Thulani’s security team physically attacked him during a heated confrontation over unpaid fees.
The Financial Dispute
The alleged victim, Lesley, is a well-known events promoter and self-proclaimed hustler. The dispute began after Thulani hosted an event featuring several performers. Lesley claims he attended the event to demand payment for an artist booking he facilitated. According to Lesley, Thulani owes him R15,000 for his services.
“I wanted to have a civil discussion with him about the money he owed me,” Lesley explained. “But instead, things quickly escalated into chaos.”

“I couldn’t even walk afterward,” Lesley said. “My foot was badly hurt, and I’ve had to go for frequent medical checkups ever since.”
Lesley Speaks Out
Lesley expressed his frustration over the incident, stating that he plans to file a case of common assault against Thulani.
“He ignored my calls, so I went to speak to him in person,” Lesley recounted. “I did my job, but he didn’t pay me. That doesn’t give him the right to send his bouncers to attack me. If he wanted to confront me, he should have done it face-to-face.”
Thulani’s Response
Thulani denied any knowledge of Lesley or the incident when contacted for comment. “Who is that?” he reportedly said before abruptly ending the call. This denial has only added fuel to the fire, leaving many questioning his accountability.
