According to the police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the officer was arrested on Friday for the murder and will appear in the Ixopo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The motive for the killing is not yet clear, but it is suspected that the officer was unhappy about Ngubo’s pregnancy and accused her of cheating on him.

Busisiwe had sent a voice note to a family member on Sunday, saying she was going to visit him. Then, on Monday, she was found dead.

Utter Devastation

Busisiwe’s cousin and family spokesperson Mandla Ngcobo said they were shocked and devastated by her death. They were also surprised to learn that she was carrying triplets, as she had thought she was having twins.

“We were already happy to welcome two new lives into our family, and now we heard there would have been three. Sadly, none of the babies will ever see the light of day.”

Ngcobo said the family never met the suspect, who was well known in the community. He revealed that Busisiwe had been dating him for over four years, but he never visited her family or introduced himself.

“It is shocking. We don’t know what happened between them or why he did this to her. We want justice for her and her babies.”

Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza visited the family on Friday and expressed her condolences. She also urged the law enforcement agencies to treat the matter with urgency and ensure a transparent investigation.

“Four innocent lives have been cruelly extinguished by the actions of an individual devoid of empathy, a tragic violation of Ngubo’s rights. Unravelling the truth and holding the guilty parties accountable is paramount. Our community’s well-being hinges on feeling secure and protected.”
