A Catholic Priest was shot dead while in church in Tzaneen in a way that has left many people fearing for their lives and in shock.
The authorities in Limpopo have initiated a manhunt for the perpetrator responsible for the brutal slaying of a Catholic priest while he was changing after conducting Holy Mass at Aqua-Park, Tzaneen, on a fateful Wednesday morning.
The Association for Catholic Information in Africa (ACI Africa) verified the tragic demise of Father William Banda, who was fatally shot subsequent to administering Holy Mass.
Morning Devotions
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the spokesperson for Limpopo police, disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate that after leading a morning prayer session with congregants, the priest proceeded to the vestry, where an unidentified assailant trailed him.

Subsequently, law enforcement and emergency medical services were summoned, and the wounded priest was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility. “Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries upon arrival. A homicide case has been initiated, and as of now, the motive behind the heinous act remains unknown,” added Ledwaba.

Seeking Community Assistance
The police authorities have urged members of the community to step forward with any relevant information. “We implore community members who might possess pertinent details regarding the incident to cooperate with law enforcement and aid in the ongoing investigation,” urged Ledwaba. Meanwhile, Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has assigned the Murder and Robbery Unit to spearhead the inquiry. She expressed profound shock and dismay over the appalling occurrence.
