Emmy Nomination in Same Category as Other Famous Celebrities

Noah expressed his amazement at being nominated in the same category as other famous celebrities such as Carol Burnett, Lizzo, John Mulaney, Norman Lear, and Wanda Sykes. He thanked everyone who watched his special and voted for him.

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah Also Receives Emmy Nods

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, which Noah hosts, also received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming. Noah thanked the Television Academy for the honor and congratulated everyone behind the scenes at The Daily Show.

Trevor Noah Makes History with Erasmus Prize Win

In addition to his Emmy nomination, Trevor Noah also made history by becoming the first comedian to win the prestigious Erasmus Prize in nearly 60 years. The only other comic to win the prize was Charlie Chaplin in 1965. Noah was also the first South African to win the prize.

Erasmus Prize Awarded for Contribution to “In Praise of Folly”

The Erasmus Prize Foundation awarded Noah the prize for his contribution to the theme “In Praise of Folly”, named after Erasmus’s famous book filled with humor, social criticism, and political satire. The jury praised Noah’s sharp-minded, mocking yet inclusive political comedy as upholding the “Erasmian Spirit”.
