“Tweet at Night, Take Drugs”: Floyd Shivambu Accuses Duduzile Zuma of Drug Use in Explosive Briefing
In a fiery press briefing, former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu stirred controversy by seemingly accusing Duduzile Zuma— without naming her — of drug use and unruly online behaviour.
Shivambu said:
“When there is an opportunity to raise an issue about wrongdoings, I clearly speak against untouchables who take drugs, tweet at night, and insult us.”
Although no names were mentioned, many believe the comment was directed at Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the outspoken daughter of MK Party founder Jacob Zuma.
February X Rant Still Lingers
Back in February, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was forced to apologise after launching a foul-mouthed tirade on social media platform X.
She specifically targeted Shivambu, questioning his loyalty to the party and mocking his history as a latecomer who previously belonged to the EFF.
She wrote:
“You are not a founding member of MK. You came here after worshipping at the feet of Malema.”
The online fallout led to internal tensions within the MK Party, culminating in Shivambu’s demotion from secretary-general after he publicly celebrated visiting Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
EFF Is a “Cult”, ANC “Directionless” — Shivambu Goes All In
During the Thursday briefing, Shivambu also didn’t hold back on other political heavyweights. He labelled the EFF, his former party, as a “cult”, while describing the ANC as “directionless.”
He further hinted at a potential new political formation, saying he was “interested in possibly establishing” a party of his own.
“I Raised My Issues Internally”
In his statement, Shivambu defended his actions and took a dig at those who air internal grievances in public.
“When you raise issues internally, you don’t need to gossip about them anywhere… I raised my concerns about MK internally, even against all odds.”
He emphasized the need to challenge problematic figures within the party — another statement believed to be aimed at Duduzile.
