IEC Guidelines Require Voters to Pre-Register Outside Home District
According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), citizens were only permitted to vote at the polling station where they were registered.
Voters travelling outside of their designated district during the elections were encouraged to apply for a Section 24A vote, which would have allowed them to cast their ballot at an alternative location.
The IEC website explicitly states that voters were required to
“notify the Electoral Commission by completing an online Section 24A form to inform us in which voting district you would like to vote on voting day. By capturing the address where you will be, the system will identify the relevant voting district.”
It appears that Jub Jub was unaware of this process or was unable to complete the necessary paperwork, leading to his inability to vote at the polling station he visited. The incident has left the television personality feeling disenfranchised and frustrated with the electoral system.
