Uzalo Hires New “Nomaswazi” After Omuhle Gela Abruptly Quit Show

It looks like Uzalo has cast another actress to replace Omuhle Gela.

Omuhle Gela used to play the role of Nomaswazi Magwaza, Njinji’s (Thembi Nyandeni) daughter,  on Uzalo before she dumped the soapie.

She quit her job at Uzalo over a contract dispute with the producers after just five months of the star working with SABC1’s most-watched TV series.

On her Instagram page, Omuhle Gela confirmed her exit from Uzalo saying;

“I’ve unfortunately made the decision to leave the show with immediate effect.”

Following her exit from Uzalo, the production decided to recast her character to resume the storyline instead of completely killing off the character.

She is going to be replaced by Durban Gen actress Fanele Ntuli, who plays Dr Zondo on the medical drama series Durban Gen.

An insider informed the Daily Sun that the deal between Uzalo and Fanele has already been finalized and Fanele is set to grace the screens as Nomaswazi soon.

“The deal between Fanele and Uzalo has been finalised. As soon as Omuhle’s pre-recorded parts end, viewers will see the new Nomaswazi -Fanele,” said the insider.

Another insider who confirmed the development revealed that Fanele is the perfect replacement for Omuhle Gela.

She was lucky to find a job after Durban Gen. After it was cancelled, actors were left frustrated and unemployed. I’m happy for Fanele, and we think that she is the perfect replacement.”

Meanwhile, Fanele Ntuli is not new in the acting industry,  she made her television debut in 2015 in  the soap opera Isibaya, playing the minor character of “School girl.”

Apparently, this is not the first time she has acted on Uzalo. She once joined Uzalo in 2016 to portray the character of “Mandisa.”
