Veteran South African Actor Seputla Sebogodi Dies at 63

South Africa is mourning the death of veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi, who has died at the age of 63.

Best known for his unforgettable roles as Kenneth Mashaba on Generations and Kgopolo on Scandal!, Sebogodi died on Tuesday evening after complications related to diabetes, his family confirmed.

In a statement, the family announced his passing and appealed for privacy during their time of grief.

“The immediate family of Seputla Sebogodi confirms, with profound sadness, his passing on the evening of 15 July 2026 following complications related to diabetes.

The family kindly requests privacy as they mourn this immense loss and navigate this difficult time together.”

Sebogodi built a distinguished career in South African television and theatre, earning widespread respect for his versatility and commanding performances.

He became a household name through his portrayal of Kenneth Mashaba on Generations before captivating audiences again as Kgopolo on Scandal!.

His television career also featured roles in productions including Suburban Bliss, Bophelo ke Semphego and Redemption, cementing his place among South Africa’s most accomplished actors.
