Watch As DJ Sumbody’s Family Conducts Rituals At The Scene Of His Shooting
Video footage of Dj Sumbody’s family performing rituals at the crime scene has touched Mzansi’s heart.
Amapiano pioneer, Oupa John Sefoka aka DJ Sumbody and his driver were shot dead in the early hours of last Sunday morning, in Woodmead.

Following his death, his family went to the crime scene where he was murdered to collect his spirit. After they had collected his spirit, they went on to perform a cleansing ritual at the scene.
The ritual Dj Sumbody’s family performed is quite common in African culture.

When someone dies, especially in such a gruesome manner, the family performs a ritual to collect the spirit of the deceased from the place of death to ensure the deceased can rest peacefully.

Meanwhile, Dj Sumbody was laid to rest on Saturday. Family, close friends and colleagues gathered at Apel Fourways Cross in Ga-Masemola, Limpopo to bid farewell to Dj Sumbody.
To pay tribute to the DJ and music producer, Cassper Nyovest performed one of the songs they both worked on titled ‘Monate Mpolaye.’
Meanwhile, following his death, there have been rumours circulating on social media alleging that Dj Sumbody was a drug lord.
Addressing mourners who had gathered to witness DJ Sumbody’s burial, his business partner, Tshepi Ranamane dismissed conspiracy theories surrounding Sumbody’s death. He said the Amapiano producer was not a gangster but was just good at what he did.
Tshepi Ranamane said:
There are conspiracy theories that are suggesting that he was a gangster. I’m so sorry guys, the guy was none of those things. The only thing he was is he was very good at what he did.
