A video has surfaces showing some brazen car thieves stealing a bakkie in broad daylight.
The CCTV footage was posted on YouTube and is said to have happened in Krugesdorp, on the West Rand. A man can be seen stealing the bakkie at a parking lot of a popular restaurant.
In the footage captured on Saturday, the suspect is seen sitting next to the bakkie before climbing into the vehicle through an open the back window.
The man then climbed inside the bakkie and drove off.
The owners of the restaurant quickly called for backup from the Sector 4 CPF members who saw patrollers react immediately in search of the vehicle.
With the help of a tracking company, both the stolen vehicle and the getaway car were recovered in the Roodepoort area.
The vehicle was found abandoned close to the stolen bakkie as the suspects fled by foot.
The getaway car has since been impounded by police for further investigation.
