WATCH: Suspected Inkabi Behind Taxi Industry Murders Arrested at Mall of Africa

Three men suspected to be inkabi were recently arrested at Mall of Africa in Midrand by a special task team assigned to prevent, combat, and investigate serious and violent crime in the Eastern Cape. The suspects are believed to be involved in multiple assassinations targeting individuals in the taxi industry in East London.

Suspected Inkabi Behind Taxi Industry Murders Arrested at Mall of Africa

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed the arrests, stating that two suspects were apprehended at the Midrand shopping centre, while a third was taken into custody in East London the following day. In addition to these arrests, four other individuals have been brought in for questioning as investigations continue.

 “Two of the suspects were arrested at the Mall of Africa in Midrand, Johannesburg, on Friday, while another was arrested in East London on Saturday. Four other suspects, also seen in this video, have been taken in for questioning by SAPS,” Mathe said.

Weapons Seized: Four Pistols and an AK-47 Under Investigation

During the arrests, police seized four pistols and an AK-47 rifle. These weapons have now been sent for ballistic testing to determine if they are connected to the murders or other violent crimes. Mathe stated that the police will release further details once the investigation is concluded.

“These firearms and rifles have been taken in for ballistics testing to determine their linkage to the murders and any other serious and violent crime. This matter is still under investigation, and police will not comment further,” she added.
