WATCH: Video of Babes Wodumo Dancing At Mampintsha’s Memorial Service Leaves SA Divided
Babes Wodumo is trending on social media after a video of her dancing and singing along to Big Nuz’s latest hit song went viral.
Yesterday, friends, fans and family packed the eThekwini Community Church (ECC) in KwaZulu-Natal to pay tribute to the late musician Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo.
While at Mampintsha’s memorial service, his widow, Babes Wodumo, stood up and started singing and dancing whilst carrying her son when Big Nuz latest hit song “Ngeke” started playing.

All eyes were on her as people watched her dancing.

The video of Babes Wodumo dancing and singing at Mampintsha’s memorial service has since sparked mixed reactions.
Some social media users argued that for someone who has just lost her husband, she looked happy. Netizens criticised her, saying that her behaviour was inappropriate and disrespectful.

Tweeps argued that dancing and singing were Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo’s love language; hence there was nothing wrong with what she did at the memorial service.

Babes Wodumo is simply celebrating the life of her now-late husband. Memorial services are held to celebrate the deceased life. Mampitsha was a singer, and her dancing to his music is a way of showing love. Yekani uku catcher where you’re not supposed to hawu.

I just love the way Mrs Maphumulo celebrated the life of her husband Aka Mampintsha, what a beautiful send-off from Babes ♥, that was their daily life of music and dancing in their Marital home. Memorial Services are religious worship to commemorate and celebrate the life of a person, this is exactly what a Young Widow Babes did and showed the whole World yesterday.. showing us her love for her husband ngoba ke we are living in a Patriarchal society where she will be judged by what the society expects the Widow to behave in a Funeral or memorial service of her deceased husband.
