Theo Kgosinkwe, one-half of the iconic South African musical duo Mafikizolo, has ended swirling rumours suggesting the group’s breakup.

The speculation gained traction following Nhlanhla Mafu’s solo single, Ngithanda Wena, featuring DJ Tira and AmaTycooler. However, Kgosinkwe has confirmed that the group remains intact, continuing to perform and thrive as a collective force in the music industry.

In a recent interview with TimesLIVE, Theo Kgosinkwe shed light on his enduring partnership with Nhlanhla Mafu. He emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy they have built over nearly three decades.

“Mafikizolo is still together because we both realized that this is a brand that we’ve nurtured for more than 27 years, and we cannot simply abandon it.”

He added that the group continues to secure bookings and perform together, showcasing their commitment to their shared legacy.

While Mafikizolo remains a united entity, both members are exploring individual creative paths. Kgosinkwe revealed that he is currently working on an EP that reflects his personal artistic vision, which is distinct from Mafikizolo’s established style.

However, Theo had this to say about it:

“We do have individual goals that we would like to accomplish. As a songwriter and musician, I have ideas and projects I want to bring to life independently. Nhlanhla shares the same drive to express her unique artistry.”
