Mzansi Mourns the Death of ‘Twitter Chef’ Tito Mboweni

The sudden untimely death of former finance minister and former Reserve Bank governor and Twitter Chef Tito Mboweni has left Mzansi shocked and heartbroken.

Tito Mboweni was one of the most loved politician in Mzansi.  He passed away in hospital on Saturday night. Tito Mboweni was 65 years old.

Family Confirms Tito Mboweni’s Death

Tito Mboweni’s family released a statement late on Saturday night announcing his passing.

The statement reads,

It is with deep sadness that the Mboweni Family announces the passing of former Reserve Bank governor and minister of finance Tito Titus Mboweni. The family is devastated by governor Mboweni’s passing after a short illness. He passed away in hospital in Johannesburg on Saturday night surrounded by his loved ones,”.

Tito Mboweni made history in 1999 by becoming the first black governor of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), taking over from Chris Stals. He held the position for ten years, guiding the country’s financial sector through critical periods.

Prior to this, Mboweni served as the labour minister in Nelson Mandela’s cabinet from 1994 to 1999, where he played a key role in shaping post-apartheid labor policies. His leadership and achievements made him a symbol of progress and hope for many black South Africans.
