A quiet Monday afternoon at a well-known Westville public house turned to tragedy when a woman was shot and killed in what authorities are investigating as a domestic violence incident. The event occurred at Waxy O’Connors on Jan Hofmeyr Road, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The establishment confirmed the devastating news, stating that the incident involved a married couple. In an official statement, management said,
“We are aware of an incident that occurred at Waxys Westville on September 15 2025, at about half past one in the afternoon. We take the safety and wellbeing of our patrons and staff seriously. An altercation between a husband and wife turned into a domestic violence incident.” They confirmed that the individual believed to be responsible is now in custody, adding, “Police and forensics are conducting a full investigation into the altercation.”

Jamieson confirmed the sombre outcome, stating, “Paramedics assessed the woman but found no signs of life and the patient was declared deceased on the scene.”
