A Zimbabwean woman was stoned to death after she refused a man’s knacking advances in a heartbreaking incident. The Birchenough Bridge woman named Melody Mashava was viciously attacked with a brick by Wisdom Pfupi. The assault occurred after Mashava rejected Pfupi’s sexual advances, leading to her severe hospitalisation.

Details of the Assault

The violent encounter unfolded at a local nightclub, where Melody Mashava, aged 30, was approached by 23-year-old Wisdom Pfupi. Assistant Inspector Chinyoka provided details, stating, “Melody Mashava was brutally attacked with a brick by Wisdom Pfupi after she spurned his sexual advances. The incident occurred at midday when Mashava was sitting alone and drinking beer.”

Pfupi’s advances were reportedly met with rejection from Mashava, who commented that he was “too broke” to afford her services. This rejection infuriated Pfupi, leading to a violent response.

Escalation of Violence that led to her death

According to Assistant Inspector Chinyoka, the situation quickly escalated. “This enraged Pfupi, who physically attacked Mashava. The situation escalated outside the nightclub, where Pfupi grabbed a brick and struck Mashava on the head, causing her to fall unconscious. Pfupi fled from the scene,” he said.

After the assault, Pfupi fled the scene but was later apprehended in connection with the brutal attack.

The police have called for the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Additionally, the community is urged to collaborate in addressing the root causes of violence to foster a safer environment for everyone.
