Xolani Khumalo Joins Politics as ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni Mayoral Candidate
Controversial television host Xolani Khumalo has officially entered politics after being unveiled as ActionSA’s mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
The announcement was made in Thembisa on Saturday.

ActionSA Confirms Candidacy
ActionSA introduced Khumalo on their official X account, highlighting his drug-busting activism through the popular Moja Love show Sizok’thola.

“Introducing ActionSA mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni: Xolani Khumalo, better known for his drug-busting activism on Sizok’thola. He’s expressed his commitment to fighting crime and ensuring that the rule of law prevails,” the statement read.
From TV Screens to Political Arena
Khumalo rose to prominence as the host of Sizok’thola, where he and his team confronted alleged drug dealers on camera.
However, his work was marred by controversy in 2023 when an alleged drug dealer died during the filming of the show. He faced multiple charges, including murder, robbery, and malicious damage to property, though these were later temporarily dropped.
Xolani Khumalo’s Promises to Ekurhuleni Residents
Speaking at the launch, Khumalo pledged to fight tirelessly for the people of Ekurhuleni if elected mayor. He vowed to establish an independent anti-crime and anti-corruption unit with “teeth” that cannot be captured.
“We will establish an independent, anti-crime unit in my administration. An anti-corruption unit that has teeth, that cannot be captured,” Khumalo told supporters.
He added:
“When you are fighting crime, people will come to you with different things, forgetting that when you do something with passion, it’s from the heart.”
