“You Were Just An Ordinary Girlfriend”: Nadia Nakai Faces Backlash for Expressing Outrage Over AKA’s Tribute T-Shirts Controversy
South African rapper, Nadia Nakai, has been the subject of mockery on social media following her outrage over the unauthorized sale of AKA tribute T-shirts by clothing brand AmakipKip.
The AKA Tribute T-Shirts Controversy
The controversy began when AmakipKip started advertising and selling AKA tribute T-shirts without the Forbes family’s consent.
AKA’s brother, Stefan, was the first to bring attention to the issue on social media. Taking to his Instagram page, he wrote
“No shame amakipkipstore,”
Nadia Nakai, who was in a relationship with AKA before he died, also expressed her anger over the matter on Twitter, stating
“WTF!!! I thought Les just made one for himself,” she posted.

In another post, she wrote;
“Then to repost Steff’s post like it’s nothing.. wow!!,” she added.
The founder of Amakipkip Leslie Mampe – popularly known as Da LES was put on blast for attempting to profit off the death of his friend Kiernan Forbes.
Social Media Reactions to Nadia Nakai’s Outrage
However, her reaction was met with criticism from social media users who argued that as “just a girlfriend”, she had no right to express such anger.
Some users suggested that she should focus on her career instead of getting involved in these matters.
