Zimbabwe opposition party file urgent court order to stop President Mugabe from turning 92

Wonders shall never seize. Now we have seen it all

After months of heated negotiations and failed attempts to achieve any kind of consensus, President Mugabe will turn 92 years old on Sunday, drawing strong criticism from his ‘enemies’ including the official opposition party, Movement for Democratic Change.

“With the host of problems this country is currently facing, the fact that our president is devoting time to the human process of aging is an affront to Zimbabweans everywhere,” said MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, who advocated a provision to keep Mugabe 91 at least through the whole of 2016. “To move forward unilaterally and simply begin the next year of his life without bipartisan support—is that any way to lead a country?”, Tsvangirai rhetorically asked.

According to Zimbabwe officials, President Mugabe attempted to work with the opposition right up until the February 20 deadline, but due to the none response from the opposition party, the President is ultimately left with no choice except to turn a year older.
