Rumours from the Zulu royal family suggest that all may not be well between King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and his first wife, Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela-Zulu. It is believed that the King’s relationship with his third wife, Queen Nomzamo KaMyeni-Zulu, whom he married earlier this year, has created a rift with Queen Ntokozo.

A source close to the situation has claimed that Queen Ntokozo feels increasingly isolated as the King spends a disproportionate amount of time with his newest spouse. This alleged neglect has sparked concerns that the once harmonious relationship between the King and his first wife has become strained.

Noticeable Absence from Key Royal Events

Queen Ntokozo’s absence has been glaring during major royal events, raising further speculation about her relationship with the King. She did not attend the Annual Reed Dance, held at Enyokeni Palace in Nongoma, nor was she present for King Misuzulu’s 50th birthday celebrations earlier this week.

Furthermore, her absence was felt during the Umkhosi Welembe/Shaka Zulu Day, an important cultural event held yesterday at Stanger High School in KwaDukuza. According to a royal insider, Queen Ntokozo has been avoiding these events due to a sense of embarrassment, particularly as her new sister-wife, Queen Nomzamo, continues to take centre stage during public engagements.

The insider went on to explain that the King now frequently attends public events with Queen Nomzamo, which has further fueled the perception that Queen Ntokozo has been marginalized within the royal household.

Relocation from the Royal Palace

In another turn of events, it has been reported that Queen Ntokozo has moved out of the royal palace in Ulundi. Sources suggest that she has taken up residence in an apartment in Durban with her two children. The couple officially tied the knot in May 2021 and have two children together.

Their marriage took place just a day before the funeral of King Misuzulu’s mother, Queen Mantfombi Zulu, which was a significant moment for the royal family. However, the recent developments indicate a shift in their once-strong bond.

Royal Family Keeps Matters Private

When approached for comment regarding the alleged tensions within the royal household, the Zulu royal family’s Prime Minister, Thulasizwe Buthelezi, declined to engage. He emphasized that internal family issues are not meant for public discussion, stating, “The matters concerning His Majesty’s household are private and should not be debated in the media.”

As speculation continues to swirl, the royal family remains tight-lipped about King Misuzulu’s relationship with Queen Ntokozo, leaving many to wonder whether reconciliation is possible or if the royal dynamics have permanently shifted.
