Moroka Swallows Unveils Reason Why 2 Matches Were Cancelled

Moroka Swallows Football Club has officially addressed the reasons behind the cancellation of their upcoming matches against Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Golden Arrows FC.

Their statement came after the DStv Premier Soccer League informed the public that Moroka Swallows would not be able to fulfil their fixtures on Wednesday and Saturday.

PSL Apology and Acknowledgment

In their statement, the PSL said that Moroka Swallows had informed them about their inability to fulfil the two remaining fixtures of 2023. While the reason for this decision was not disclosed, the PSL expressed sincere apologies to football enthusiasts for the unexpected turn of events.

“The Premier Soccer League has been officially notified today that Moroka Swallows Football Club is unable to fulfil its scheduled fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns on 27 December and Lamontville Golden Arrows on 30 December 2023.

The league extends its sincere apologies to all stakeholders, including clubs, sponsors, and spectators, for this unfortunate situation,” the statement reads.

Moroka Swallows Reveals Why Matches Were Cancelled

Moroka Swallows FC subsequently issued a statement offering more insight into why their matches against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows were cancelled. The club attributed the cancellations to an ongoing dispute between players and management, with reports suggesting that players declined to participate in the matches due to unpaid salaries.

The club affirmed their commitment to resolving the issue promptly and expressed gratitude to the PSL for accommodating the rescheduling of the games, allowing them time to address internal matters.

“On behalf of Moroka Swallows FC, an apology is extended to all affected parties due to the cancellation of the following games against Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Golden Arrows FC.

Due to an unresolved dispute between players and management; that has resulted in management having to request cancellation of the two remaining games of this year from the PSL, to allow it time to correct the situation.

Management would like to assure everyone within and outside the club that the process of finding one another will soon be found. It has been resolved that no further details will be officially given until an update from the club is issued,” the club stated.
