Robbers Target Cast and Crew

According to reports gathered by Zimoja, the crew had just departed the production house in a vehicle carrying both actors and production staff. As they drove through Zuurbekom, four armed robbers in a Datsun Go forced the vehicle to stop by pointing firearms at the driver.

The robbers then proceeded to take cellphones and personal belongings from everyone onboard before fleeing the scene.

One victim revealed that the team managed to trace a stolen cellphone, which helped police locate the suspects.

Police Chase and Shootout

The South African Police Service (SAPS) flying squad tracked the robbers to Protea Glen, where a high-stakes shootout ensued. Two of the robbers were shot during the confrontation and are currently under police guard at a local hospital. The remaining suspects were apprehended, and stolen items were recovered.

The arrested robbers are scheduled to appear at the Protea Magistrates Court on Monday.

Safety Concerns Amid Tight Filming Schedule

Speaking to the publication, a crew member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed fears of returning to work after the harrowing experience.

We are even scared of working until late now after this incident. What if they come back again? Remember, we are trying to shoot the last parts of the drama because it has been discontinued this year,” the crew member lamented.

The situation has been further exacerbated by the absence of professional security, as the previous security company stopped providing services in November due to unpaid fees by the production.
