SANDF Soldier Stabs and Kills Two Colleagues Before Attempting Suicide at Macadamia Base
A soldier from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has killed two fellow soldiers before attempting to take his own life.
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Macadamia Military Base near Komatipoort, Mpumalanga.
Details surrounding the motive remain unclear, but authorities have confirmed that two soldiers died on the scene while the suspect survived the suicide attempt.
Investigations Underway
SANDF spokesperson Prince Tshabalala confirmed the incident to News24, stating that both the SANDF and the South African Police Service (SAPS) have launched full investigations into the tragedy.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident remain the subject of ongoing inquiry, and further details will be communicated once officially verified,” said Tshabalala.
SANDF Speaks on Killing of Two Soldiers
The SANDF extended its condolences to those affected by the shooting, describing the incident as a significant loss to the military family.
“The SANDF expresses its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased members. This is a deeply painful moment for the organisation and the military community at large,” Tshabalala said.
Authorities have yet to release the names of the deceased pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.
