Scandal! Actress Nolwazi Ngubeni Accused of Theft and Cyber Forgery
Actress and casting director Nolwazi Ngubeni has been granted R5,000 bail after appearing in the Brixton Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg on fraud-related charges.
Ngubeni, known for her role in Scandal!, is accused of financial misconduct involving Durban-based Rhythm World Productions, Johannesburg’s Masakhane Casting Agency, and Make Your Art (Pty) Ltd in March 2024.
She faces charges of cyber forgery, fraud, theft, and uttering—a crime involving the intentional use of a forged document to deceive or harm another party.

Allegations of Misused Funds
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Ngubeni was hired by Rhythm World Productions as a casting director and was responsible for recruiting performers for various projects. However, instead of distributing payments to the talent, she allegedly kept the money for herself
NPA Gauteng spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane stated,
“When Rhythm World paid her for the services, she allegedly kept the money for herself.”
Case Postponed for Further Investigation
Ngubeni’s case has been postponed to 26 September 2024 for further investigations. The NPA has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice is served.
“The NPA is committed to ensuring justice is served and will provide updates as the case progresses,” Mjonondwane added.
Ngubeni’s legal troubles come amid another high-profile case withdrawal—that of ex-DA councillor Malusi Booi, whose corruption charges were dropped, though the state has indicated plans to reinstate them.
As the investigation continues, the entertainment industry watches closely to see how Ngubeni’s case unfolds.
