Dancer cum singer Babes Wodumo has set social media abuzz after donning a striking wedding dress, complete with a flowing white veil at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs).
This dramatic choice was a poignant homage to her late husband, Mampintsha, who passed away before they could celebrate their white wedding.

Celebrating Love and Memory
The couple had initially celebrated their love with a traditional wedding in April 2021 in KwaZulu-Natal. Despite their joyful ceremony, they never had the chance to experience a formal white wedding, a dream that was tragically cut short by Mampintsha’s untimely death in December 2022.
Babes Wodumo, who was just 28 at the time of her husband’s passing, expressed the depth of her loss and the significance of her attire.
In an interview with Zimoja, Babes Wodumo revealed her feelings about walking the red carpet without Mampintsha by her side.
“I know most people are wondering why a wedding gown on the red carpet? Yazi namhlanje (Today) I wish uMampintsha was here so he could walk the red carpet with me,” she said.
