Tragedy Hits Ukhozi FM Again as Top Producer Bonga Ndaba Dies
Ukhozi FM’s education producer, Bonga Ndaba has died
The 51-year-old producer passed away after a brief illness.

Shock and Sadness at Ukhozi FM
According to the Daily Sun, Bonga Ndaba’s sudden death was confirmed by Ukhozi FM station manager, Sbongi Ngcobo.
Announcing the news during the afternoon show, Ngcobo described the shock within the station, as Ndaba had been present at the SABC Durban offices just a day prior.
“On Wednesday morning, they rushed him to the hospital, and he arrived there while he had already passed on,” she shared.
Heartbroken, Ngcobo urged listeners and the public to respect Bonga Ndaba’s grieving family and to refrain from speculating on the cause of his death.
“This loss is extremely painful for us at Ukhozi FM,” she added, calling for support and compassion from listeners.
A Veteran with Deep Roots in Broadcasting
Ndaba’s career at Ukhozi FM spanned decades, beginning with his work on programs in the early 2000s. He was well known for his impactful work on popular shows like ‘Ubusuku Obuhle.’ One notable collaboration was his production role on Bongi Gumbi’s midday show, which connected the Durban and Joburg studios.
Additionally, he was an active participant in the Ukhozi FM soccer team, joining colleagues in matches against other teams.
A Difficult Year for Ukhozi FM
The South African broadcasting community has been struck by another tragic loss with the passing of Ukhozi FM’s education producer, Bonga Ndaba.
This loss marks yet another painful chapter for Ukhozi FM. Earlier this year, the station mourned the passing of gospel show presenter Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, who lost her battle with lung cancer.
