Singer Ringo Madingozi Is Paternal Father To The Queen’s Buntu
Singer, Ringo Madlingozi’s son Phila is the one who plays the character Buntu Toto, a certified troublemaker and Schumacher’s brother on the Queen.
While some fans might have overlooked the fact that he is the famous singer, Ringo Madlingozi others might have read between the lines.
Phila was raised in Port Elizabeth by his grandmother.
He was born on the 26th of October, 1989 in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
He got inspired to get into the music business because of his father Ringo Madlingozi, Phila said music has always been his first love.
I loved music from a while ago. I grew up in the late 80’s, early 90’s- it was the RnB era. I was surrounded by elders who were listening to RnB artists like Keith Sweat, Brian McKnight, and Usher. [Singing] was cool from a young age so I learned how to do it, and music is in my family, so it wasn’t that hard to transition into music.
He had also proven to be brilliant actor and producer for his role on Isikizi, he won a Golden Horn Award for Best Achievement in Original Music/ Score on TV Drama.
Speaking about his win at the time, Phila Madlingozi had this to say.
I did not think we were going to win the award but it shows that hard work pays off and when I received the invite to attend the awards I was already on my way home to Port Elizabeth.”
Phila acknowledges that although he has a super famous father, he is his own man and his sound is quite distinctive from his father’s.
