Lira Overcomes Adversity: Celebrates 2 Years Since Suffering a Stroke and Reflects on Journey

South African songstress Lira recently marked a significant milestone in her life as she celebrated two years since suffering a stroke.

The legendary singer, who recently celebrated her 45th birthday, shared a heartfelt post reflecting on her journey since the life-altering event.

In 2022, while on a trip to Germany for a performance, Lira suffered a stroke, leaving her medical team to emphasize the need for patience during her recovery.

On Friday, Lira took to Instagram to reflect on her progress since the stroke, expressing her gratitude for being alive and still being able to engage in the things she loves. She wrote,

Today marks 2 years since the stroke, and I’m so grateful to be alive and talking and singing. I’ve come such a long way. God is so good!!! I’ve had an incredible journey and learned a lot. I’m almost there. Thank you to everyone who has shown me support. Thank you for your love and prayers.”

A Birthday Celebration: Lira Surprises Guests with a Mini Concert

In addition to celebrating her recovery milestone, Lira also offered her fans a glimpse into her 45th birthday celebration. She posted a video on Instagram, revealing that she surprised her guests with a mini-concert. Overwhelmed with emotions, she expressed pride in herself for performing in both English and vernacular, a testament to her progress since the stroke. Lira wrote, “They’ve been with me since I could not speak – and now I performed in English and vernacular – I nailed it! It was a proud moment. I could not hold back the tears… I’ve come such a long way. I’m so proud of myself.”

Exciting Performance Ahead: Lira Gears Up for a Special Show Supported by the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture

Looking ahead, Lira is gearing up for a significant performance scheduled for May 25th, organized by the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture in association with Castle Lite.

Excitedly practicing without stress or worries, she expressed her happiness with the progress she has made and eagerly anticipates sharing her journey with her fans. Lira said,

I’m still recovering – but this is how far I’ve come! I cannot wait to share my progress with you.”
