The heartbreaking incident took place in Leshikishiki Village in Lebowakgomo, Polokwane, on Friday, 3 May 2024.
Mother Kills And Beheads Her 18-Year-Old Son
Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the police spokesman in Limpopo, told the Daily Sun that upon their arrival at the scene near a local tavern, police officers discovered the dead body of the 18-year-old man lying on a wheelchair. Its head had been horrifically separated from the body. Surprisingly, no witnesses were present to speak on what happened to the man.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) managed to track the deceased man’s mother. Mashaba spoke more on the strange incident:
“Police commenced with initial investigations, and the deceased’s mother was located. After a thorough investigation, the mother was positively linked to the murder of her son and arrested.”
Mashaba also mentioned that a knife, believed to have been used by the man’s mother to commit the crime, was found and seized at the scene. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon to face charges.

Widespread Condemnation For The Tragedy
The incident has drawn strong condemnation from an organization advocating for the rights of people living with disabilities.
Chairman of Beyond Disability, Solomon Ramoaka, expressed shock at the gruesome nature of the crime, emphasizing that it was the first time they had heard of such a heinous act being committed against a vulnerable individual:
“This incident shocked us. It’s for the first time we hear reports of a heinous crime of this nature levelled against a vulnerable person,” he expressed pain.
“This incident has deeply disturbed us. It is unprecedented for such a horrific crime to be perpetrated against a person with a disability,” stated Ramoaka.
