‘Scandal!’ Lindiwe Actress Nomvelo Makhanya Ventures into Music as a DJ
In a positive career move, award-winning actress Nomvelo Makhanya, best known for her role as Lindiwe on the popular South African soap opera ‘Scandal!’, has launched her music career as a DJ.

Transitioning to Music
The South African Film and Television Award (Safta) winner revealed to TshisaLIVE that she has long had a desire to enter the music industry, particularly after working with DJ Black Coffee’s former record label, Soulistic.
Makhanya shared that she has been busy in the studio, honing her vocal skills and figuring out her musical direction. She added that she is currently learning from various industry professionals as she embarks on this new creative path.

Why Nomvelo Makhanya Launched Career as a DJ
The actress-turned-musician emphasized that her foray into music is driven by her passion to connect with and uplift people through her art.
“The music inspired me, and [it] doesn’t matter whether I’m singing, acting or DJing. I’m healing people through that. My talent in acting would heal people in their homes and educated viewers. The same goes for my music or DJing career, it delivers the same energy,” Makhanya explained.
She stated that her music style will primarily feature Afrotech and Afrohouse and that she plans to release her first singles soon. Makhanya encouraged her fans to stay tuned to her social media pages for updates on her upcoming musical releases.
Balancing Acting and Music
After a successful nine-year stint on ‘Scandal!’, Makhanya shared that she needed to take a break from acting to fully immerse herself in the character of Lindiwe. However, she revealed that she is now actively attending auditions and eager to return to the small screen.
“But I’m back attending auditions. I miss acting, I’m crossing my fingers for something.”
