Obani Lababantu Hitmaker, Gee Six Five Dies

Amapiano sensation, Gee Six Five, real name Olpha Sepele has died.

She was 65. She died in the early hours of Wednesday.

The 65-year-old gogo enjoyed her 15 minutes of fame after the release of her viral song, Obani Lababantu.

News of her death was announced by two social media influencers, former Cosmopolitan editor, Sbu Mpungose and actress Faith Sibiya who both claimed they were her nieces.
My beloved aunt, MumNcane who many of you know as #GeeSixFive is no more. She displayed leadership throughout her life, was the epitome of fearlessness & inspired many with her single #ObaniLababantu.

Details of her death have not yet been revealed but sources claim she was suffering from a chronic illness for some time now.

Gee Six Five shot to fame after a clip of her song went viral on social media as tweeps made fun of her age and the music she played.

Surprisingly her single topped music streaming charts and downloads in Mzansi till date.

And before her death, she had revealed that this was her once-off project and people should not expect anything from her in the future.

Speaking on Vibe FM, she also added that it was her time to rest since she had already done what she dreamt of.

“I have to apologize to my fans, but this project is a once-off project. I have a reason for this. I’ve already done what I dreamt of. Now, I’m making room for others,” she said in an interview.
