Somizi Celebrates Mary Twala’s Birthday

South African social media personality Somizi Mhlongo Motaung has honoured his late mother’s life and said “Legendary South African Actress Mary Twala could have been 80 years old today.”

The Idols South Africa judge penned down an emotional piece on social media to his late mom who passed away just two months before she could turn 80 on this day.

In the birthday message, Somizi shared a video of his mom during her last moments in hospital alongside her close friend television actress, Lilian Dube.

The video shows Mary Twala in good spirits whie on her hospital bed together with Lillian Dube.

The two can be heard planning a little celebration on the 20th and deciding on what outfits they were going to wear. “Don’t tell me it’s a surprise baby. We are going to be toodoo,” said Mary whom Somizi revealed had been in a semi-coma for days until her friend came through for a visit.

“Someone is cutting onions. How can I not choke up watching this? Happy 80th Ma. On this day my mom was in a semi-coma until mam Lillian walked in and she was in this state…..I’ll tell u one-day what happened and how, very hilarious,” Somizi tearfully said.

Somizi has always spoken fondly about his mother, openly celebrating her and thanking her for being his role model. He once explained that he celebrates her every day.

Mary Twala died on July 4, 2020, at around 11 am at Parklane private hospital after battling a long term illness.

She continues to shine bright even after death and is still being revered by many even across the world.
