President Ramaphosa Responds to Zandie Khumalo’s Plea for Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, responded to musician Zandie Khumalo’s letter requesting the prioritization of the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. Magwenya stated that the Presidency does not have the authority to interfere in court proceedings and does not comment on matters before the courts. He advised Zandie to address her concerns directly to the court.

In her letter, Zandie expressed gratitude to President Ramaphosa for his interest in the case and for acknowledging the change in the presiding judge. She admitted her limited understanding of the court system’s operations and its relationship with politics but found comfort in the President’s involvement.

Ratha Mokgoatlheng Meyiwa Trial

Ratha Mokgoatlheng has been appointed as the new presiding judge in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. Zandie Khumalo, who was present in the house on the night of the incident, is one of the witnesses. She emphasized the pain experienced by the affected families and pleaded with President Ramaphosa to prioritize the case and avoid further delays. Zandie requested the dedication of a specific courtroom for the trial and urged for weekly trial sessions until a verdict is reached.

“My biggest wish would be to try and put a bit of pace to the proceedings of this case. I would, like for the sake of the families who haven’t found closure after so long, to request that one court is earmarked specifically for this case, a specific law team is also appointed to deal with nothing else but this case and this case is in court from Monday to Friday up until it is concluded and a verdict has been given,” Zandie stated.

Zandie Khumalo expressed her desire for justice for Senzo Meyiwa and confirmed her willingness to testify again in court.
