SABC 1 calls for entries into new dating show, 2Hot2BeSingle
Johannesburg, South Africa

SABC 1 has announced its new dating show, 2Hot2BeSingle, which is currently searching for young men and women between the ages of 22 and 35.
The new series is expected to be set up as a game show, where contestants will compete to be with the elected bachelor or bachelorette.

SABC 1 has asked for those who are looking to find a stable relationship to apply by logging on at www.2hot2besingle.co.za to stand a chance to be a part of the show.
However, the state broadcaster is currently involved in some financial woes with hundreds set to lose thier jobs.
After months of consultation, deadlocked sessions and protest action, at least 303 SABC employees face retrenchment, which is almost half of the 600 redundancies that were originally projected.
However, this number could still change depending on staff accepting alternatives such as a three-year salary freeze, a reduction in annual and sick leave as well as the number of people who opt for voluntary severance packages and early retirement.
Meanwhile, SABC Chief Operations Officer Ian Plaatjies said they are going ahead with the plans in a bid to make the public broadcaster financially sustainable.

“That part of the alternatives still needs to be agreed to so it would be, for example, a salary freeze across the board from executives, right down, for the next three years or until we manage to turn the organisation around as well as a reduction in the number of leave days, the termination of the practice of encashment of leave, as well as a reduction of the number of sick leave days,” said SABC’s COO, Ian Plaatjies.

Moreover, SABC is expected to publish the final version of its new structure, which it said would make the organisation financially viable.
